We are the Yorubas in Pirkanmaa Association, a socio-cultural group founded in March 2023 and aimed at promoting the culture, language, history, and heritage of the Yoruba people in Pirkanmaa region, Finland and all around the globe. We are registered as a Non governmental socio-cultural organization in Finland.
The main goal of the Yorubas in Pirkanmaa Association is to recognize and bring together all Yorubas in the Pirkanmaa region under one umbrella. This is aimed at building a strong community and relationship between all Yoruba people in Pirkanmaa through the promotion of the Yoruba culture, tradition and art.
The association also aims to foster and encourage good cooperation with the Finnish society and people of other nationalities, by showcasing the Yoruba heritage to them, thus facilitating collaboration with people of different backgrounds and promoting unity, peace and love among Yorubas and non-Yorubas in the region of Pirkanmaa and Finland at large.
The association membership is open to all persons of Yoruba extraction as well as their spouses and children who are above the age of 18. At the moment, the association boasts of a membership strength of about 70 members. We welcome every new member to join us as we work to build a strong cultural association that will bring great benefits to all the Yorubas in Pirkanmaa and Finland as a whole.
Our Main Objectives
Our main objectives include the following:
- To promote the Yoruba culture, language, history, and heritage and in Pirkanmaa and Finland.
- To drive and promote the teaching of Yoruba language at all levels in Finnish schools.
- To work effectively with the government and her agencies, to project the Yoruba culture as much as possible, while abiding by the Finnish law.
- To establish a strong community that welcomes, supports and helps new Yoruba immigrants to settle and integrate well in the Finnish society.
- To develop different programs and activities that supports the growth, empowerment and career development of all Yorubas in Pirkanmaa.
